Field Trials that Allow the Use of the Garmin Dog Tracking Devices

Field Trials are events in which hunting dogs compete against one another. Due to the competitive nature of these events, the organizers implement rules and regulations that govern the actions of those participating. Some kennel clubs and organizations limit the use of technology in these trials.

Below is a list of Field Trials that are reported to allow the Alpha® 100 and TT™ 10*:

  • American Kennel Club (AKC) – Coonhound Event

Below is a list of devices that are allowed to be used in AKC** Pointing Breed Field Trials and Hunting Tests*:

  • Astro® 220 tracking DC™ 30 or DC™ 40
  • Astro® 320 tracking DC™ 30, DC™ 40, T 5 or T 5 mini
  • Astro® 430 tracking T 5 or T 5 mini
  • Astro® 900 tracking T 9
  • Alpha® tracking T 5 or T 5 mini
  • Pro 550 Plus tracking T 5 or T 5 mini

The above list is not all inclusive, but provides a list of Field Trials that have been reported to Garmin. While the contact points can be removed from the TT™ 10, Field Trials must consider whether the Tone ability will provide an advantage to the hunter similar to stimulation. The above list may change over time to reflect these rulings.

* Contact organizers of event to confirm the current status for each Field Trial.
