Sending & Receiving Waypoints Between Rino 700 & Other Rino Models

When sending a waypoint from a Rino® 700 outdoor radio and GPS to other Rino models, there are a few important distinctions to consider. First, since the Rino 700 is not enabled with ANT+, waypoints can only be sent to and from a Rino 700 using FRS/GMRS radio transmission. This differs from Rino devices that are enabled with ANT+1 (such as the Rino 755t) which can use either ANT+ or FRS/GMRS to share waypoints wirelessly. Secondly, the Rino 700 does not have a "Share Wirelessly" function as found on models like the Rino 755t, and as such, the steps to send and receive waypoints differ from other Rino models as detailed below.

NOTE: Since the Rino 700 can only send waypoints via radio transmission, all Rino devices in a party must be on the same channel and code to send and receive waypoints.

Steps for Rino 700

  1. From the main menu, select Waypoint Manager.

  2. Select a Waypoint.

  3. Press Menu/Zoom.

  4. Select Send Location.

This will transmit the selected waypoint to all Rino devices within range using the same GMRS channel and code. On a Rino 650, 655, 655t, 750, 755t, a Waypoint Marked screen will appear when the waypoint is received from the Rino 700 at which point the user can choose to Save or Cancel.

Since the Rino 700 does not have a Send Wirelessly function, no action is required for the Rino 700 user to receive a waypoint from a Rino 755t or other ANT+-enabled Rino model as long as both devices are on the same radio channel and code — i. e. you do not have to select "Receive" on a Rino 700 to receive a waypoint as you would on Rino 755t.

Steps for Rino 650, 655, 655t, 750, or 755t

  1. From the main menu, select Share Wirelessly.

  2. Select Send.

  3. Select Use FRS/GMRS.

  4. Select Waypoints.

  5. Select the waypoint to be shared.

  6. Select Send.

When the Rino 700 receives the waypoint from the other Rino device, a Waypoint Marked screen will appear with the option to Go or view the waypoint on the Map. Selecting either Map or Go will save the waypoint received to the Rino 700 which can be found in the Waypoint Manager. Pressing Back on the Rino 700 will ignore the waypoint received and it will not be saved.
