Garmin Connect Course Took Me on an Unpaved Road

When using the custom drawing option in the Garmin Connect™ platform you have three options to create a course:

• Popularity Routing: Route will generate based on the most traveled path based on other Garmin Connect user activity

• Follow Roads: Route will generate along paved roads

• Freehand: Custom method allowing the user to generate a route based on how they draw it

When using the Follow Roads option it is possible for the map provider to have a road categorized the wrong way. In the event that you ride a course that takes you onto an unpaved road we suggest that you create a new course when given the opportunity and switch from Follow Roads to Popularity Routing. Using Popularity Routing as the method to create a course will utilize past activity history from other Garmin Connect users. The end result is a course that will follow the most popular routes that others have taken.
