Pairing Failed Message When Adding a Device to Garmin Connect

Most pairing issues can be solved by restarting your phone and Garmin device. After restarting, turn your phone's Bluetooth off and then on again. Try pairing again. If it still fails, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Confirm Pairing Code is Correct

When your phone asks, your Garmin device will display a six-digit code. Confirm the code is identical to the one on your phone's screen. If you are required to enter the code manually, entering a wrong code will cause a 'Pairing Failed' message.

Step 2: Turn Off Other Devices

To avoid connection problems, disconnect your Garmin from any other phone it was previously connected to, or turn that other phone off.

Step 3: Check the Saved Bluetooth Devices on Your Phone

Remove your Garmin device from your phone's Bluetooth settings if it's paired there. It needs to be paired through the Garmin Connect® app which will subsequently add it to the phone as a paired Bluetooth device automatically. For help see: Remove and Add a Device From the Garmin Connect App

Step 4: Turn Battery Saver Off

Battery saver mode found on some Garmin models can disable Bluetooth. For help finding this feature, refer to your owner's manual and search for "Power Manager Settings" or "Battery Manager Settings".

Step 5: Check for an App Update

Visit the App Store for iPhone or Play Store for Android to check for an update to the Garmin Connect app.
