Activating and Deactivating Tracked Devices in Alpha 200i Groups
Several new features have been introduced in the Alpha 200i to enhance multi-dog device tracking:
- Ability to add up to 250 dogs and contacts in the tracked device list (only 20 can be active at a time)
- Activate and deactivate individual dogs
- Activate and deactivate groups of dogs/tracked devices
Activate and Deactivate
With the Alpha 200i, you can add 250 dogs to the Dog List/Tracked Device List. Since only 20 can be tracked at one time, you can now activate and deactivate individual dogs or contacts in the Dog List/Tracked Devices List, or when starting a New Hunt.
- An active device is one that is being tracked and will show on the Map, Dog Compass, and Training features are enabled.
- When you deactivate a dog, the collar stays paired in the dog list, but it is no longer tracking. It is hidden from the Map and Dog Compass, and the Training buttons are hidden.
- This allows dogs that were left in the truck, or at home to keep from showing up on your map or tracking list. It keeps a cleaner interface and hides the persistent "?" of dogs that have lost communication.
- When you re-activate the dog, it shows on the Map and Dog Compass again in the dog's last known position until it reconnects with the Alpha 200i. When it reconnects, all tracking, training, and information features are restored and the question mark (?) is replaced by the current status/distance icons.
Groups
Groups have been added that work in synergy with the new activate and deactivate features. You can now organize, and combine, multiple dogs into separate groups. Groups can be separately activated or deactivated in one click from the Tracked Devices/Dog List or when starting a New Hunt. The Group feature is designed mainly for users that track other friend's, family member's, or hunter's individual or groups of dogs or have more than 20 of their own dogs to manage.
Organizing dogs into groups provides a solution to the limitation of having a maximum of 20 dogs/contacts paired as in the Alpha 100. The Alpha 200i can pair up to 250 dogs and contacts into the Dog List/Tracked Device List and then organize them into groups. Groups can then be activated and deactivated as your tracking needs change.
Examples of Group Use
- For hunters that had to previously remove dogs from their Alpha 100 to add a new group of dogs later that day to their Dog List, you can now store your currently unused devices in deactivated groups in the Alpha 200i. When needed, you can quickly bring them back up without re-adding and entering sharing codes (track, train and control codes) and reentering names.
- For users that hunt with a different person every weekend, you no longer need to delete the list and re-add your buddy's dogs. You can have a group just for your buddy's dogs.
- For users in large groups or hunt clubs (50+ dogs), you can switch off a dog or group in your own list to track a buddy’s dog and help locate and recover an out of range dog without deleting one of your own dogs from the Dog List.
