My Approach G3 or G5 Is Not Recognized by the Computer

Mass storage devices appear as a drive on your computer allowing for easy access to data on the device regardless of the operating system. Occasionally, your Approach® G3 or G5 golf handheld may not appear as a drive. To troubleshoot an Approach device that is not being recognized by the computer, try the following.

Checking the Connection With the Computer

  • Try a different USB port.
  • Do not connect through a USB Hub.
  • Try a different data transfer USB cable.

Forcing the Data Connection With the Computer

If the Approach is still not recognized after one minute, these steps can be tried.

  1. Disconnect the Approach from the computer.
  2. Power off the Approach (if powered on).
  3. Press and hold the Power button.
  4. Plug the Approach into computer.
  5. Wait until device is recognized by computer.
    NOTE: It may take up to 30 seconds for device to be recognized as a drive.
  6. If prompted, install USB device drivers.
  7. Release the Power button.

Your device should now function normally.
