How Do I Identify My Product Model?

You can identify your product by the product name, serial number, or Unit ID to locate support content for your device in the Support Center.

  • The full product name includes the product series name and number (if applicable) such as nüvi® 2597LMT or Venu Sq 2.

  • The serial number is a combination of 8 to 9 letters or numbers, without spaces or dashes, externally printed on the device.

    • If the serial number is not recognized, enter the product name, such as Honda Pilot 2019.
  • The Unit ID is a 10 digit number found internally when viewing system information on your device.


Serial Number Location

The location of this information will vary. In most instances it will be near a bar code or QR code. Check the following possible locations:

  • On the back or bottom of the device.

  • Next to the charging contacts.

  • Under the battery door or inside the battery compartment.

  • Under the weather cap.

  • Under the watch band.

  • Under the mounting bracket.

  • Under the GPS antenna.

  • Under the collar plate (dog collars).

  • For fitness products check within the Garmin Connect app.

  • On the original box (usually a white label with a barcode under the serial number).

  • Tacx Trainer serial numbers should be located on a white sticker on the resistance unit.

  • Some devices have a QR code near the serial number that can be scanned to view the number on your phone.

Tips for Entering Your Product Name When Using Garmin Support Center:

  • Ensure you are selecting your product name in the drop-down menu.

  • Try entering your product number (ex. enter 935 for a Forerunner 935) then select the full name in the drop-down menu.

  • A serial number does not have any dashes. If you see a 145- number, try taking off any mounts to see your serial number.

  • Special characters do not need to be used when entering your product.

  • Ensure that you are on the proper country page for your location. Product lists are location specific.
