Transferring Tracks & Waypoints to a Garmin Tread Series from An Alpha 200/300 Series

To transfer data to your Arctic Cat G8 Display, Kawasaki RIDGE 8" Tread Display, Tread® - Overland Edition, Tread® XL - Overland Edition, or Tread® - SxS Edition GPS navigator from your Alpha® 200, Alpha 200 Plus, or Alpha 300 series dog tracking handheld you will need to install the Garmin Explore™  App as well as the Garmin Tread™  App to your compatible smartphone or tablet. 

Pairing The Alpha with the Garmin Explore App

Enabling Bluetooth on the Alpha® Handheld

  1. Select Setup.
  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Select Continue.

Pairing to the Garmin Explore App

  1. Open and sign in to the Garmin Explore app on the smartphone:
  2. Select Pair Device on the first screen prompt.
    • NOTE: If you are not prompted to pair, touch Watch and Handheld Devices at the bottom of the screen, then touch Pair Device or +.
  3. Select the Alpha category.
  4. Select your model of Alpha handheld
  5. The app will present a list of potential nearby Bluetooth devices that are transmitting or already in the Bluetooth list.
  6. Select your Alpha model
  7. After several moments the Alpha and the smartphone will both show a passkey number to verify the correct device being paired.
  8. A Bluetooth Pairing Request notification will pop over the app, touch Okay to confirm the pairing request.
  9. On the smartphone, touch Continue to finish the pairing process.
  10. On the Alpha handheld, touch Done.

Pairing The Alpha Handheld with the Garmin Tread App

On your Tread:

  1. Touch Settings (gear wheel icon) on the Garmin device
  2. Touch Wireless Networks
  3. Touch Bluetooth and ensure it is enabled.

Open the Tread App on your phone:

  1. Touch Ok to allow the Tread App to use Bluetooth
    •  Touch Allow to allow the Tread App permission to send notifications to you phone, touch Don't Allow if you do not want the Tread App to send notifications to your phone.
  2. Touch Agree
  3. Touch Pair a Device in the Tread App
  4. Touch Garmin Tread
  5. Touch Find Garmin Device
  6. Touch the name of the Garmin device from the list of compatible Bluetooth devices in the area
  7. Touch Pair, if prompted on the Garmin device
  8. Touch Pair on the phone, if prompted
  9. Enter the passkey listed on your device if prompted by your phone
    • Touch Allow to allow the device to receive your Phone notifications, touch Don't Allow if you do not want to allow the device to receive your Phone notifications.
  10. Touch Enable Garmin Explore
  11. The Tread App will ask for location permissions. Touch Allow.

The Tread App will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.

Syncing Your Devices

Once your Alpha handheld syncs with the Garmin Explore app and transfers the waypoints and tracks to the Explore Library, that data will then get shared with the Tread App. Syncing the Tread with the Tread App after syncing the Alpha handheld will transfer that data to the Tread.
