Why are My inReach Messages Out of Order?

You may notice message threads that are showing messages out of order on your inReach® satellite communicator and/or on the recipient's phone.

This can happen when there are multiple messages waiting to send from the inReach device, and possibly multiple messages waiting to be received at the same time. The inReach communicator sends all messages that are waiting to be sent as soon as it has a GPS satellite location and finds a connection with an Iridium communication satellite. After the messages are sent, it then checks for any messages that are waiting to be received. Since it can take several minutes to find a connection with an Iridium communication satellite, your inReach device may send new messages when a previous message reply is still waiting to be received by the inReach device. This sometimes causes the messages to show out of order.

This can be avoided by sending one message at a time, waiting for the message to be sent, and then waiting for a reply message to be received before sending another message to the same recipient.
