Changing an inReach Device Address

IMPORTANT: The following steps may not change the inReach address. If the inReach address is not changed after following these steps, the inReach address cannot be changed. 

Your inReach® satellite communicator's address is automatically generated by the email address used when initially creating your inReach account. For more information, see Related at the bottom of the page.

When you change the email address within your account using the steps below, the inReach address may also change as a result. Confirm that all of your inReach contacts have the correct inReach device address.

Due to this and the inReach Consumer Terms and Conditions, it is not recommended to allow others to change your inReach account information when lending out your inReach device. For more information, see - Borrowing or Lending Out an inReach Handheld.

NOTE: Your account email address can only be changed to an email address that is not already in the Garmin system. Your inReach address will be listed as inReach Addr. on the Garmin Explore™ website under Account > My Info.

Changing an inReach Device Address

  1. Log into the Garmin Explore website.

  2. Select the Account page.

  3. Select Edit next to your name under the My Info tab.

  4. Change the email address under the Email box.

  5. Select Done.

    If the inReach Address changed at this point, you should see that change reflected on your inReach device after syncing.

  6. Sync your inReach handheld. Refer to the links below for your device.
