Garmin Automotive Devices with a QWERTY Keyboard
By default, your automotive device uses the QWERTY format for its on-screen keyboard. This is a layout that is commonly used on English-language computer keyboards.
If you have your device set to a different language, you may need to change the keyboard language to adjust the format.
To Change the Keyboard Language:
- Touch Settings
- Touch Language and Keyboard
- Touch Keyboard Language
- Select the desired keyboard language
- Touch Save
If you do not see your desired keyboard language, you may install additional languages to your device using Garmin Express.
To Install Additional Language Files:
- Download and install the Garmin Express application

- Connect the device to your computer
- Click Tools & Content
- Click the Utilities tab
- Scroll down to Optional Updates
- Click Language Files
- Select the desired language(s)
- Scroll down and click Install Now
Once the language file is installed, you can change the keyboard language on your device.
