Show POIs on the map of a nüvi® 800, 805, or 5000 series device

The nüvi® 800, 805, and 5000 series devices allow you to show points of interest (POIs) on the map screen.

To Access this Feature:

  1. Turn the device on
  2. Touch Tools
  3. Touch Settings
  4. Touch Map
  5. Touch the Down arrow
  6. Touch the blue box (either "Enabled" or "Disabled") next to Show POIs

Once you've touched the blue box, you'll see a list of different POI categories, such as "Food & Drink," "Lodging," "Fuel," and so on. Each category will have a blue box next to it. This box will tell you whether any POIs from that category will be displayed on the map. The box will indicate either None, Some, or All, depending on your settings.

Locate the category for which some or all of the POIs you'd like to see. Touch the box next to it. You will then see a list of sub-categories. The "Food & Drink" category, for example, will list different types of establishments (i.e., "American," "Asian," "Barbecue," etc...). These subcategories will also have a blue box next to them indicating whether they're hidden or shown on the map. Additionally, if you would like all sub-categories shown, you may touch the Show All button at the bottom of the screen.

The POIs you have set to show will display as icons on your map page. You may hide them again by repeating the above steps.

Note: Some devices may require a software update to allow this function. If you do not have this function on your nüvi® 800, 805, or 5000 series device, update the software by downloading Garmin Express on your device.
