Type of Traffic the BC 30 will Provide

The type of traffic received when using the BC 30 depends on what version of traffic is bundled with the device. The BC 30 cable itself contains no traffic subscriptions.  Instead, it borrows the subscriptions used on automotive devices with embedded traffic when physically connected.  Only devices with embedded traffic will support traffic with a BC 30, and then only with the subscriptions that are on the device.

NOTE: To determine what type of traffic your device uses, click on Support Center, and enter the product name or the serial number of your device. Once your device is selected click Other and search for "What Type of Traffic Does My Automotive Device Use?"

• If the connected device has an HD embedded traffic receiver (with a TA cable), then the North American version of the BC 30 will provide HD traffic when connected to that device.

• If the connected device has a DAB (European traffic) embedded traffic receiver (with a TA cable) then the European version of the BC 30 will provide European traffic when connected to that device.

• If the connected device has an embedded Garmin Traffic receiver (with a TA cable), the BC 30 will provide Garmin Traffic when connected to that device.

• If the connected device does not support traffic then the BC 30 will not provide any traffic support when connected to that device even though the BC 30 has an embedded traffic receiver.

• If the connected device is an LMT-S model, the BC 30 will not provide FM or HD Traffic information.  The Smartphone Link app is required to receive traffic information when used with a BC 30 cable.

• If the connected device is one of the following devices, the BC 30 will not provide FM or HD Traffic information.  The dēzl™ App is required to receive traffic information when used with a BC 30 cable.

  • dēzl™ LGV700
  • dēzl™ OTR500
  • dēzl™ OTR700
• If the connected device has an embedded Garmin Traffic receiver (with a USB-C Vehicle Power Cable), the BC 30 with a Mini USB to USB-C Adapter (sold separately) will provide Garmin Traffic when connected to that device.
