Deleting an ActiveCaptain Owner/User on a Chartplotter
To delete an ActiveCaptain owner/user on a chartplotter, use the following steps:
NOTE: For Striker series devices, follow steps 1 and 3.
- If you have already installed the ActiveCaptain application on your smart device, and the owner/user you are wanting to delete is on the ActiveCaptain account, reset the ActiveCaptain application. To reset, open the application then choose Settings, then Reset App.
- If there is an ActiveCaptain micro/SD card in the chartplotter, eject the card and remove the ActiveCaptain.dat file from the Garmin folder within the micro/SD card.
To Remove the ActiveCaptainCard.dat file
Windows
- Insert the card into your computer's card reader
- Open the Start Menu
- Type the words "file explorer" (Windows 10) or "windows explorer" (Windows 7)
- Left-Click on the "File Explorer" or "Windows Explorer" search result to open
- Left-Click on the drive letter associated with your card
- Double-click the Garmin Folder
- Right-Click the ActiveCaptainCard.dat file
- Choose Delete
Mac
- Insert the card into your computer's card reader
- Double-click the newly added desktop icon for the microSD/SD card
- Left-click the Garmin Folder
- Left-click and hold the ActiveCaptainCard.dat file
- Drag and drop in the Trash
3. Restore the chartplotter to factory settings. The steps for restoring the device to factory settings can be found in the chartplotter’s owner’s manual. You will want to make sure to back up user data prior to resetting the device and make sure there are no micro/SD cards in the chartplotter during the reset.
Once these steps have been completed, the owner/user should be removed. You can now re-connect the ActiveCaptain application to a compatible chart plotter. See related content below for instructions on pairing.
