Importing User Data in to the ActiveCaptain App from Another Garmin Program

NOTE: HomePort has been discontinued. For additional information regarding the discontinuation, see  HomePort Application Discontinued


User data, such as routes, tracks, and waypoints, can be exported from BlueChart Mobile, HomePort, BaseCamp™, and MapSource to be imported in to the ActiveCaptain application. Select a program below for the instructions to export user data:


Exporting User Data from BlueChart Mobile
  1. Select Settings

  2. Select My Content

  3. Select Email All My Content as a GPX file

  4. Complete the information in the To: field of your email and press Send


Exporting User Data from HomePort or BaseCamp™
  1. Open the HomePort or BaseCamp™ application

  2. Select the information to be exported:

    • My Collection can be selected to export all user data stored

    • A specific list or folder can be selected to export only its contents. For more information, see related content

    • Specific items can be highlighted in the lower-left pane by clicking a single route/track/waypoint or using CTRL+Click or Shift+Click to highlight multiple items

  3. Click on the File drop-down menu

  4. Highlight Export

  5. Select to export the desired folder/list or the current selection

  6. Select a name, format, and location to save the exported data

  7. Click Save

  8. Email saved file to your email address


Exporting User Data from MapSource
  1. Open the MapSource application

  2. Select the information to be exported

  3. Select File

  4. Select Save As

  5. Set Save as the type to GPS eXchange Format (*.gpx)

  6. Click Save

  7. Locate the saved file and email file to your email address


Once the user data has been exported and sent to your email, it can be imported into the ActiveCaptain app. 

Importing User Data into ActiveCaptain

  1. Open ActiveCaptain so that it is running in the background

  2. Open the email containing the GPX file

  3. Tap on the GPX file attachment

    • Android - Will automatically go to ActiveCaptain and give the Import option

    • iOS - Press the Share button (a square with an up arrow) and select the ActiveCaptain app, then select Import
