How do I Safely Eject an External Device/SD Card From my Computer?
It is important to always safely eject your device/SD Card from the computer to avoid data corruption.
If you Have a Windows Computer:
- Click on the Start Menu and navigate to “This PC” or “My Computer”.
- Locate the external hard drive that you want to eject. For example, your portable device or SD Card.
- Right-click on the external hard drive and click “Eject”.
- You may unplug the device as soon as soon as you see a message on the computer that tells you to do so.
If you Have a Mac Computer:
- Click on the Finder icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Locate the external hard drive that you want to eject. For example, your portable device or SD Card.
- Right click on the external hard drive and click “Eject.”
- Depending on your Mac OS version, you may have an eject button to the right of the external hard drive’s name.
- As an alternative, you may also drag the device to your Trash bin on your Desktop. This will also safely eject your device.
- You may unplug the device as soon as you see the hard drive disappear from the computer.
