If Garmin Express fails to start after installing the Update for Visual C++ 2013 and Visual C++ Redistributable Package linked above, it is possible that the version you already have installed is newer than what Garmin Express requires and it is not allowing an older version to be installed. In order to resolve this, please try the following:
- Open Apps & Features on your Windows computer.
- Write down the versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed.
- Uninstall any version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable * THAT IS HIGHER THAN 14.23.27820 * from Apps & Features (or Uninstall or Change a Program). Note that the version 14.23.27820 itself can remain.
- Run the upgrade or the new install of Garmin Express.
- Open Garmin Express.
If the above fails, another computer will need to be used, or you may seek further assistance from a Microsoft certified repair technician.
OPTIONAL: IF you find you need the higher versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable that you uninstalled in Step 3, you can download and install from the Microsoft website here: Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable x86
