Pairing Up to 250 Dogs for the Alpha 200: Adding, Grouping, and Deactivating

The Alpha 200 series handhelds can actively track up to 20 dog devices at one time; but, can pair up to a maximum of 250 devices into the Dog/Tracking list. The extra dogs kept in the list can remain in an "Inactive Status" and be reactivated when needed. This feature is intended make it easier for users that need to constantly remove and re-add dogs when hunting with other partners' dogs. You can also organize all the dogs into manageable "Groups". This allows you to quickly activate or deactivate entire groups of dogs with a single click.

A General Outline of an Ideal Sharing Procedure

  1. Confer with your hunting partner and determine what ID numbers you will each be using
    • Write down all the names and ID numbers being used in a list/chart; this can be helpful later
    • Compare lists and ensure that all ID numbers chosen do not have a duplicate second -dash number
    • If conflicts are present, each of you should change your own dog ID numbers to work out an ideal list before proceeding
  2. Deactivate any/all extra dogs that are not currently needed in both your lists
  3. Add/Share your partner's dog into your Dog List
  4. Assign the dog to a Group
  5. Document the dog device name, the ID number, and Group in your written chart (to refer to later when pairing other devices if needed)
  6. Set the dog/Group to Inactive Status
  7. Move on to Add/Share the next partner's dog into your list
    • Continue in this fashion until all dogs have been added/shared, ID numbers set correctly, free of any -dash number duplicate conflicts, and groups properly organized.

Once all dogs have been added/shared, you can Activate the dogs/groups you want to track

Keeping Track of ID Numbers with a Chart

The following are several examples of setting up your dog list for numerous dogs.  There is no one way to accomplish this; many possible combinations and situations exist. These charts are intended to illustrate how Active ID numbers should not conflict with anything within an active group and how to clearly organize your situation.
