Activating the Beacon Light on a Dog Tracking Collar

Many Garmin dog tracking collars have LED beacon lights that help the user see the dogs in lower light conditions from afar. The steps below outline how to activate the collar LED beacon light.

Activating the collar beacon lights:

Alpha® XL Navigator

  1. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  2. From the Main Menu select Pro View or Dog List shortcut.
  3. Select the desired collar.
  4. Select Blink Mode.
    Select from list the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).
  5. Select back arrow
  6. Select Beacon Color to change the beacon light color.
    NOTE: Color change only works with Alpha T 20/Alpha TT 25 collars

Alpha® 200 Plus, Alpha® 300, and Alpha® 300i Handhelds

  1. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  2. From the home screen, select Dog List.
  3. Select the desired collar.
  4. Select Adjust Collar Light.
  5. Select Blink Mode.
    Select from list the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).
  6. Select Change Color to change the beacon light color.
    NOTE: Color change only works with Alpha T 20/Alpha TT 25 collars.

Alpha® 200 & Alpha® 200i Handhelds

  1. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  2. From the home screen, select Dog List.
  3. Select the desired collar.
  4. Select Adjust Collar Light.
  5. Select Blink Mode.
    Select from list the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).
  6. Select Change Color to change the beacon light color.
    NOTE: Color change only works with Alpha T 20/Alpha TT 25 collars.

Alpha® 100 Handheld

  1. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  2. From the home screen, select Dog List.
  3. Select the desired collar.
  4. Select Show Info.
  5. Press  menu.
  6. Select Adjust Collar Light.
  7. Select from list the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).

Alpha® 10 Handheld

  1. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  2. Select the desired collar.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Select Collar Light
  5. Select the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).
  6. Select Change Color to change the beacon light color
    NOTE: Color change only works with Alpha T20/TT25 collars. 

Pro 550 Plus Handheld

If you do not see these options on your Pro 550 Plus handheld you will need to update the software on your device. Installing Software Updates to the Pro 550 Plus

Changing the Beacon Lights:

  1. Switch your toggle to the desired dog (black, red, blue).
  2. Set Dial to N.
  3. Select the Tone button.
  4. Use the training keys to move up and down the list until you see Change Color.
  5. Use the Tone button to select Change Color.
  6. Use the training keys to move up and down the list until you see the desired color.
  7. Use the Tone button to select the color you want. 

Changing the Blink Pattern:

  1. Switch your toggle to the desired dog (black, red, blue).
  2. Set Dial to N.
  3. Select the Tone button.
  4. Use the training keys to move up and down the list until you see Blink Mode.
  5. Use the Tone button to select Blink Mode.
  6. Use the training keys to move up and down the list until you see the desired Blink Mode.
  7. Use the Tone button to select the blink pattern you want.

Astro® Handheld

  1. Stand within 30 feet of the Dog collar.
  2. Ensure the collar is turned on and tracking.
  3. From the home screen, select Dog List.
  4. Select the desired collar.
  5. Select Show Info.
  6. Press Menu.
  7. Select Adjust Collar Light.
  8. Select from list the desired setting (Continuous, Blink Slow, Blink Fast, Off).
