Understanding Minute of Angle (MOA)

Minute of Angle (MOA) is a unit of angle measurement equal to 1/60th of 1 degree. A complete circle has 360 degrees and each of those degrees can be divided into 60 minutes of angle. So with 60 MOA per degree, that equals 21,600 MOA in a complete circle.

This means that MOA is often used to indicate a level of accuracy in sights, optics, and other related products, as it can take into account factors such as windage and elevation through adjustments. In relation to archery, MOA allows us to estimate the dispersion of arrow/bolt impact at specified distances, as well as calculating the movement in point of impact at a predetermined distance due to adjustments to the sight.

1 MOA = 1/4” at 25 yards, 1/2” at 50 yards, 1” at 100 yards, 2” at 200 yards, 3” at 300 yards, etc.
