How to Set the Current Map Location to Somewhere Else on a Garmin Automotive Device

There may be times when you would like to see the map, and/or other points of interest, at a different point on the map from your current location. To do this, you will need to put your device in GPS Simulator mode, then select the desired location.

To Set Your Location at a New Position on the Map:

  1. Ensure there is no route active by touching Stop on the main menu

  2. TouchSettings 

  3. Touch Personal

  4. Touch Location

  5. Touch the switch next to Location to turn it off

  6. At the bottom of the screen, touch Home Button to return to the main menu

  7. Touch Map 

  8. If a message appears that GPS Simulator is turned on for indoor use, touch OK

  9. Touch the map

  10. Drag your finger across the screen to move the map to the desired location

  11. Touch the desired map location

  12. Touch the icon Overlander - location flag icon that appears

  13. Scroll down and touch Set Location

Once the new position is set, you will be able to view the map and search for POIs in that area.


To Set Your Location at an Entered Destination, Such as a POI or Address:

  1. Touch Where To from the home screen

  2. Locate the destination

  3. Touch the destination

  4. Touch the Info icon transparent info button

  5. Scroll down and touch Set Location

Once the new position is set, you will be able to view the map and search for POIs in that area.


Tips:

  • Touch the zoom in icon and zoom out icon v3 buttons on the map screen to zoom in and out.

  • Touch Save to save the location the arrow is pointing to.

  • Touch Go! to simulate driving to the location.

  • Turn the Location setting to On once you are ready to navigate real-time to a destination.
