Cleaning Your Watch After Swimming
Many Garmin® watches are designed to be used in the water (swimming, water based activities, showering/bathing). However, water is full of impurities or contain chemicals such as chlorine that can build up on your watch over time. This can cause data to become inaccurate. To help prevent this from happening, follow the instructions in this article for cleaning your watch after exposing it to impure water.
Cleaning After Using for Water Activities
The most important thing you can do after using your watch for water based activities is cleaning the watch before salt or pool water dries on it.
Remove the watch to run low pressure, fresh, clean, water over the sensor port.
Use soft-bristled toothbrush to clean debris away from charging contact points on the device.
NOTE: Do not put any objects into the sensor ports located on the sides or back of the watch! Do not use canned air to blow debris out of the sensor port!
Shake away excess water and allow to air dry.
If you are unable to clean the watch after water activities, hold your watch so that the holes on the right side are pointing towards the ground, and shake out any excess water. Clean the watch using water free of impurities as soon as you are able.
