Instructions to Sync Spotify Content to the vivoactive 3 Music

This article will provide instructions to use the Spotify app downloaded from the Connect™ IQ store on a vívoactive® 3 Music.

Requirements to Use the Spotify Connect IQ App

The following are requirements to use the Spotify Connect IQ app on your watch:


I Meet the Requirements. What's Next?

Follow each step listed below when first setting up the Spotify app with your watch. You will only need to follow the third step when you want to load additional content to your watch.

Download and Install the Connect IQ App

  1. Select the following link to download the app: Spotify Connect IQ app.

  2. Select down arrow next to download in a blue box button.

  3. If prompted, sign in to your Garmin account.

  4. Select your device to download the app.

  5. Acknowledge any app permission requests.

  6. A message should indicate that the app will be installed during the next sync. If this does not occur automatically, below are options to sync your device:

    • To sync via Bluetooth®: Be in range of your paired smartphone and press and hold the key to access the Controls Menu. Select  to sync.

    • To sync via Wi-Fi: Be in range of your Wi-Fi network, press and hold the key to access the Controls Menu. Select blue arrows to sync.

    • To sync using the Garmin Express™ program: Connect the device using supplied power/data cable to a computer. Open Garmin Express. The sync will automatically occur once the device is detected.

Once the sync is complete, the Spotify app will be installed onto your device. You are now ready to move to Step 2 below.


Step 2: Initial Setup of Connect IQ App

Once the app is installed, you will be prompted on the watch to continue the setup:

  1. Swipe the screen to the Music Widget.

  2. Press and hold the touchscreen.

  3. Select Music Providers.

  4. Select Green circle with three curved horizontal lines.

  5. You will now be prompted to open the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone.

  6. From the Garmin Connect app, enter your Spotify login details and select LOG IN.

  7. Review and agree to the terms by selecting AGREE.

You are now ready to move to Step 3 below.



Step 3: Selecting and Syncing Spotify Content to the vívoactive 3 Music

Content available to sync to the vívoactive 3 Music will be listed under your Library from your Spotify account. This includes:

  • Playlists: Saved or created playlists

  • Recently Played: A list of tracks that you have recently played

  • Made for you: New Music and Daily Mixes based on your listening habits

  • Podcasts: Saved podcasts

To select this content to sync to your watch:

  1. From your vívoactive 3 Music swipe your screen to the Music Widget.

  2. Select spotify library icon (Spotify Icon).

  3. Select Add music & podcasts.

    • If you need to update playlists you've previously downloaded, you can select Update Downloads.

  4. Select a category and the content you want to sync to your watch.

At this point, the watch will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network (Verizon watches will connect to LTE). We recommend plugging the watch into a charger near the Wi-Fi router for the best results.
