PURPOSE
GDL 69 Series Software Version 4.01 for Satellite Datalink Receivers has received TSO approval.
Note: “GDL 69 Series” includes both the GDL 69 and GDL 69A.
GDL 69 Series Software Version 4.01 contains the following changes from 3.40:
- Corrected issue of missing temperature fields in AIREP weather data
- Corrected issue where incorrect reporting of temperature, dew point, and altimeter data fields in the METAR data occurred when the official METAR report had missing data fields
- Corrected issue where radar coverage data was failing to update on displays, which may have caused out of service NEXRAD radar sites to be displayed as clear of weather issues (SA 1041)
- Corrected issue with TFR boundary boxes parsed incorrectly for arcs and circles (SA 1101)
- Corrected issue where radar coverage data was intermittently corrupted
- Corrected issue where icing data was intermittently corrupted
GDL 69 Series Software Version 3.40 contains the following changes from 3.30:
- Added support for communication with GTN and G1000/G900 System Displays using SW Version 10.00 or later.
PRODUCTS AFFECTED
GDL 69 (Garmin P/N 011-00986-00) Units and GDL 69A (Garmin P/N 011-00987-00) Units with software
version 4.00 or earlier.
Note: GDL 69 Series Software Version 4.01 is not available for GDL 69/69A Units interfaced with non-WAAS 400/500 Units. (This software upgrade does not correct any issues for these units.)
DESCRIPTION
This software service bulletin explains the process of upgrading the GDL 69/69A software to Version 4.01 in GDL 69/69A Satellite Data Link Receivers that are installed with the G600/G500, MX20, GMX 200,
GNS 400W/500W, and GTN 6xx/7xx Units. GDL 69/69A units installed with G900X, G950, G1000, Cirrus
Perspective and Embraer Prodigy integrated flight decks are not covered by this service bulletin and will
be updated in separate service bulletins once this software is approved for each platform.
