Enabling Secondary Satellite Constellations on a Garmin Outdoor Watch
Enabling a secondary satellite constellation allows for your watch to more quickly acquire a satellite fix, and can help maintain satellite connection in degraded signal situations where the environment may be a factor. If you are experiencing issues with speed and distance due to degraded GPS signal, enabling a secondary satellite constellation may help. Some watches have a secondary constellation enabled by default. Check out What Is GPS? to learn more about GPS or other Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
Enabling Secondary Satellite Constellations for a Specific Activity Type
Note: Enabling a secondary satellite constellation can use additional battery power when using GPS on your watch.
The instructions below will work for most watches to adjust the satellite settings for one activity profile. If you need to find specific instructions for your watch or adjust the default satellite settings, search in your owner's manual for "Satellite Settings".
Hold UP/MENU (middle left) button.
Scroll to or select
Settings.
Select Activities & Apps or Activities.
Select an activity.
Select (Activity Name) Settings.
Select GPS or Satellites.
Select a satellite configuration.
Your watch will now always use the settings you selected for that activity profile.
