Resolving Satellite Acquisition Issues with a GPSMAP 60 or 76 Series
If a GPSMAP 60 or 76 series handheld will not acquire a satellite signal when outside with a clear view of the sky, perform the following steps:
- Download the Garmin update program: WebUpdater
- Follow the onscreen instructions to install and update the device
- Download additional updates once the primary update is completed; look for anything referencing GPS CHIPSET
After installing any available updates, complete the following steps:
- Turn On device
- Go to the Satellite Page
- Press Menu
- Choose New Location
- Select Automatic
Let the unit sit outside for 30 minutes with a clear view of the sky to acquire a satellite signal. This will force the device to clear any existing acquisition data and start looking for new data.
