Resolving Satellite Acquisition Issues with a GPSMAP 60 or 76 Series

If a GPSMAP 60 or 76 series handheld will not acquire a satellite signal when outside with a clear view of the sky, perform the following steps:

  1. Download the Garmin update program: WebUpdater
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to install and update the device
  3. Download additional updates once the primary update is completed; look for anything referencing GPS CHIPSET

After installing any available updates, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn On device
  2. Go to the Satellite Page
  3. Press Menu
  4. Choose New Location
  5. Select Automatic

Let the unit sit outside for 30 minutes with a clear view of the sky to acquire a satellite signal. This will force the device to clear any existing acquisition data and start looking for new data.
