Downloading Stored Heart Rate Data From a Dive Activity
During a dive activity, the HRM-Pro™, HRM-Swim™, and HRM-Tri™ heart rate monitor will not broadcast heart rate in real-time. Instead they store heart rate data while the chest strap is worn. These heart rate monitors can store more than 18 hours of heart rate data before the oldest data starts being overwritten. The heart rate storing feature was developed for cases where the watch can not receive heart rate data in real-time, such as if the heart rate monitor is underwater, or for team sport activities where athletes don’t typically wear watches and the watch is out of wireless range.
At the end of an non-dive activity, the paired watch determines if there is an HRM-Pro/Swim/Tri connected and if there is missing heart rate data. The watch will then automatically start searching for stored heart rate data and download it from the HRM-Pro/Swim/Tri.
To handle any cases where stored heart rate data was not downloaded post-activity, such as Single-Gas Dive, there is an option to manually cue the watch to “download heart rate”.
To Manually Download Heart Rate Data
NOTE: If the HRM has been worn for more than 18 hours since the start of the activity in question, then the desired data will have been overwritten and cannot be downloaded.
- Put heart rate strap on
- From the watch, select the saved activity under History
- Arrow down and select the option Download Heart Rate
The Download Heart Rate feature should not be required in most cases. When this option is used, a second activity file is created with the stored heart rate. You may have to manually upload this second file to Garmin Connect™ account. For steps on manually uploading file to the Garmin Connect account, see Related. This will result in having two of the same activities. One without the stored heart rate and one with the heart rate. The activity that does not display heart rate data can be deleted.
