Viewing the Compass and Changing the Map View on the zūmo XT
Garmin automotive devices allow you to set the map view to either North Up, Track Up, or 3D.
When set to North Up, the map on a device will display North at the top of the screen at all times.
If set to Track Up, the direction you're traveling will remain at the top of the screen.
- Both North Up and Track Up are 2D views
- North Up and Track Up include a compass icon on the map view
When set to 3D view, the map will take on a 3-dimensional appearance; the direction you're traveling will remain at the top of the screen.
- The compass and legend will not appear in 3D view
To View the Compass:
NOTE: Browse map behavior in Track Up mode is the same as North Up, except the compass animates as the map turns in Track Up mode.

To Use the Map Orientation Map Button:
The Map Orientation map button can be used as a compass in Track Up and North Up view.
- The button does not allow for panning around the map.
- Can be used during navigation without having to touch the map screen first.
- Allows for quickly switching between Track Up, North Up, and 3D views.
1. Touch View Map
2. Touch Map Tools
3. Touch the wrench icon
4. Touch the plus icon
5. Touch Map Orientation
6. Touch Save
7. The Map Orientation button will now appear on the map screen
To Change the Map View:
1. Touch Settings
2. Touch Map & Vehicle
3. Touch Driving Map View
4. Touch the desired map view. A preview of your selection appears on the right.
- North Up and Track Up previews will show the compass.
5. Touch Save
The map view is now set to your preference.
