How Do I Pair My Watch to a New Phone?
When setting up your Garmin® watch with a new phone there are some steps that you will need to follow in order to complete the process.
Steps for Old Phone
If the old phone is still nearby and powered on, you must remove the watch from the old phone. This will need to be done from the Garmin Connect™ app and from the phone's Bluetooth® menu. For help see:
- Turn off the old phone to keep the old phone from attempting to pair with the watch again.
Steps for New Phone
Confirm the Garmin watch does not show up in the new phones Bluetooth menu. If the watch does show in the Bluetooth menu of the new phone you will need to remove it before continuing.
Download and install the Garmin Connect app to the new phone. For help see: Installing, Updating and Uninstalling the Garmin Connect App.
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Select More (bottom right).
Select Garmin Devices.
Place your Garmin device into pairing mode. This allows the Garmin Connect app to find it.
This setting is typically found under Settings > Connectivity, Bluetooth or Phone > Pair Mobile Device or Pair Phone. Refer to your owner's manual for specific steps. Your watch will indicate that it is in pairing mode with an image, QR code, or text.
Select Add Device or Add this Device in the Garmin Connect app.
NOTE: If your Garmin watch shows under Registered to Garmin Connect select the name of your device.
From the Garmin Connect app select Start or Connect it.
Input the six-digit code from the Garmin device into the prompt on the phone.
Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup of your device. A sync should occur during this process and your Garmin device should display a green dot from the My Day view of the Garmin Connect app, indicating a connection with your mobile device.
