Weather not displaying on a Garmin Chartplotter when using a GXM 51 or GXM 52

The GXM 51 and GXM  52 antennas can be used with any NMEA 2000 compatible Garmin Marine Chartplotter/Sounder.

If the weather is not appearing on the chartplotter/sounder, there are a few troubleshooting steps to follow.

First, ensure that the antenna is being recognized by the chartplotter/sounder. Please follow these steps to find out: 

  1. With the chartplotter/sounder powered ON, press the Home button
  2. Choose Configure
  3. Choose Communications
  4. Choose NMEA 2000 Setup
  5. Choose Device List
  6. Ensure that the antenna appears in this list

If the antenna does not appear in the Device List, please check that the NMEA 2000 network is setup correctly for the two devices to communicate with each other. For more information on setting up a NMEA 2000 network, please review the Technical Reference for Garmin NMEA 2000 Products.

If the antenna is being recognized by the chartplotter/sounder and the weather is still not being recognized, please ensure that the operating system of the device is up to date. For more information on updating the chartplotter/sounder, please refer to the Related Content.
