How to use two Garmin ClearVu/SideVu Transom Mount Transducers with the GCV 10

The GCV 10 has a transom mounted ClearVu/SideVu transducer. This transducer has one ClearVu element and two SideVu elements (left and right). If something on the transom, like a large outboard engine, were to block one of the SideVu signals, two transom mount transducers can be used.

It is highly recommended to install the Thru-Hull ClearVu/SideVu transducer pair if possible.  However, if Thru-Hull transducers are not wanted, the Transom mount transducers will work.

To install two transom mount ClearVu/SideVu transducers to the GCV 10, a 12-pin Transducer Y-Cable is required. The Y-cable will designate which transducer will use each function.

For instance, if installed correctly, the transducers should be mounted on the port and starboard side of the transom. By connecting to the transducer's cable to the correct port on the Y-cable, the GCV 10 will know to only use the left SideVu element of the port transducer. The GCV 10 will then use the ClearVu and right SideVu element of the Starboard transducer. This works because the Y-cable will block the signal from the unused elements in each transducer.
