XM pages say "Waiting For Data" on the GPSMAP 696
This message indicates that the weather products are waiting to be downloaded from the XM satellite. It is important that the XM antenna has a clear view of the southern sky (the XM satellite is in orbit above the equator) in order to receive the appropriate weather products from the satellite. This can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
If this message persists and the weather products do not appear on the screen after 15 minutes, confirm your subscription with XM. It may be helpful to also request a "Radio Refresh" which is available through SiriusXM, as well. Furthermore, it is always helpful to regularly update the operating system software on the GPS. Instructions for updating the software on the GPSMAP696 can be at the bottom of this article.
If the XM pages are still not displaying weather data appropriately, it may be necessary to contact Garmin Aviation Support for further assistance.
