Fixing Scratches and Wear on Titanium Watch or Watch Band
Caring for scratches and blemishes between uncoated and diamond like coated (DLC) bands and watches vary. Unless specified on the watch or watch band product page as DLC, the titanium is considered uncoated. Titanium is very durable, but it is softer than stainless steel, and over time it will scratch and scuff. Bands and watches that are listed with DLC coating will show less wear and tear than uncoated titanium. Use the recommended guidelines below to care for your titanium watch.
Caring for Titanium Bands
- To clean, wipe the metal band with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. If necessary, dampen the cloth with water. Allow the band to dry completely before wearing.
- Do not use metal polish or abrasives to clean or refinish your metal band. This may result in damage to cosmetic finishes.
Uncoated (Bare) Titanium
Scratches and scuffs will eventually create a relatively uniform and even personalized character that many people like. Take the band to a jeweler, or jewelry repair shop where they may be able to refinish, or restore the metal to a like new appearance if you would like the metal renewed.
DLC Coated Titanium
Garmin's DLC is designed to help prevent scratches and wear. While more resistant to scratches and scuffs than uncoated, scratches and wear may still occur over time. Garmin does not recommend any attempt to repair the finish, even if taken to a jeweler. Attempting to repair or refinish the watch or bracelet may further damage the finish and degrade the appearance.
