MURS Radio Technology on the zumo XT
The zumo XT uses MURS (Multi-Use-Radio-Service) radio technology for the Group Ride Radio.
NOTE: The Group Ride Radio (5.5") (Sold Separately) and a software update are required to use the Radio features.
You don't have to file a license with the FCC to use the radio, unlike GMRS, which is another popular radio service.
Visit the FCC Website for more info on MURS radio channels.
Selecting a Radio Channel
From the Main Menu:
- Select Radio.
- Select an option:
- To move to a different channel, select + or -.
- To select a MURS channel from the menu, select Channel.
See Legal Restrictions for Group Ride Radio for more information.
See the Detailed Video Below for Instructions to Upgrade the zumo XT With the Group Ride Radio.
NOTE: Third-party radios and Garmin devices that operate on or near the MURS band may be used to communicate as long as the correct radio channel and squelch code is used. Depending on squelch setting, the non-Garmin radio user may hear a very short tick every 2.5 sec, due to position data for the group ride. See Possible MURS Radio Interference With Compatible Garmin Devices for more information.
