Sonar Data Collection on a Garmin Chartplotter
In efforts to provide customers with the best marine mapping available, Garmin® continues to enhance our inland maps and coastal charts, relying on many methods of data collection, from integrating data from hundreds of official sources, to conducting on-water surveys. Garmin also relies on customers to contribute sonar data to influence mapping detail on the water. Garmin chartplotters offer two options to contribute sonar data: the first is the use of the data collection setting; the second is through the Quickdraw Contours Community feature. Both options enable users to collect and share sonar data effortlessly, which can greatly improve mapping detail anywhere from highly trafficked boating areas to smaller bodies of water such as local lakes and ponds.
To manage the Data Collection setting:
Home > Settings > Preference > Data Collection > Depth Logs > Yes
To share QuickDraw data to the community:
Home > Charts > Menu > QuickDraw Contours > Start Recording
