My zumo R1 Radar is Not Detecting Vehicles Properly

IMPORTANT: If the radar device is not connected or sending radar data, Garmin® recommends that you stop riding and check the devices in a safe location. Adverse weather conditions and wet roads may interfere with the operation of the device. Avoid using the device in these conditions.

  • Make sure the device is mounted such that there is nothing obstructing its rearward view. This includes the rear tire, saddle bags, luggage, etc.

  • The unit should be mounted to the rear with the supplied mounting options, ensuring that it is level and parallel to the road.  

  • Ensure the device is pointing directly behind the motorcycle. Radar performance will deteriorate if the unit mounting is skewed.

  • Installing the device higher on the back of the motorcycle provides a better radar view.
