Activity Speed Differs Between My Device and Garmin Connect
In some instances a device's maximum speed, reported in the activity summary details, may not match the graph that displays when viewing the same activity in your Garmin Connect™ account.
When performing an activity, such as running or cycling, the GPS will continuously record track points. These track points will contain a vast amount of information (i.e., speed, location, elevation, and power). When the workout is uploaded into your Garmin Connect account, the graph will display the entire track log.
Summary data is determined by selecting random points within the track log. If the absolute maximum speed is not selected in the random points, the summary data will display the maximum speed of the points that were selected. Therefore, when there is a difference between the two, rely on the graph for accuracy. This functionality will be improved as future updates for Garmin Connect are released.
Speed is used as an example in this FAQ. All aspects of workout data may see this difference, such as cadence, power, distance, and/or elevation.
