Switching My inReach Subscription From a Consumer Account to Professional Account

If you have a Consumer account but are a group, organization, or business with a need to have more than one active user and device, you can switch to a Professional account with the steps in this article.

Important Items to Note Before Switching Your Account

  • If your device is currently suspended, you need to either reactivate or cancel and create a new Professional account. For steps on reactivating or canceling, see Related.

  • You cannot switch back from a Professional account to a Consumer account. Your Professional account will need to be deleted and the account history will be lost.

  • Professional accounts have more options and are meant to have an administrator who controls the account and devices. For more information, see - Setting Up a New inReach® Professional Account.

Switching From a Consumer to a Professional Account

  1. Log in to the Garmin Explore™ website.

  2. Select PLANS & DEVICES.

    NOTE: On mobile browsers, select Two Horizontal Lines Icon in the top left, then PLANS & DEVICES.

  3. Select Add inReach Device.

  4. Select Get Started for Tread devices, or select Need to activate without using an app? for other inReach devices.

  5. Enter the new device IMEI number and authorization code. Then select Next.

    • TIP: If you need help finding the IMEI number and authorization code, select one of the device images in the window and instructions will be provided.

  6. Select I Want Multiple Devices.

  7. Select the Professional account link in the last paragraph.

  8. Review your plan information then agree to the Professional Terms and Conditions.

  9. Select Switch to Professional Flex Plans.

Your account will now be switched to a Professional account. You should sync your inReach® device with your account using inReach Sync, the Earthmate® app, or the Garmin Explore™ app depending on your device model. The Earthmate app will not sync account changes to inReach SE/Explorer, or the inReach Blackbox (1.5).
