(2022) Service Bulletin 22013 Rev A: G5 Backup Battery Discharge

Garmin G5 Electronic Flight Instruments (011-03809-00) with the following serial numbers are affected:

COMPLIANCE:

Mandatory: This service bulletin must be complied with no later than February 28, 2023.

PURPOSE:

The affected G5s can discharge the G5 backup battery to 0% if airframe electrical power is not applied for multiple weeks.

Verification of good battery status is required before flight into IMC as described in the Airframe Flight Manual Supplement (190-01112-13). NOTE
Garmin recommends G5 Software Version 8.00 (Garmin STC Service Bulletin 22011) that provides improved detection and indication of G5 backup battery failure.
