"The Radar Needs to be Configured" Message When a Garmin Chartplotter is Connected to an Open Array Radar

If the message The radar needs to be configured appears on a Garmin chartplotter, the device is asking what size open array is being used. This usually occurs after a software update has been performed.


Connected to a GPSMAP 74xx / 76xx, 84xx / 86xx, 90xx / 92xx, 12xx, 1xxx, 7x1, 7x2, 9xx (including Touch, Plus) series
  1. Select Radar

  2. Select a radar option

  3. Press Menu

  4. Select Radar Setup

  5. Select Installation

  6. Select Configuration

  7. Select Antenna

  8. Set to the size of antenna

The radar is now configured to the type of array that is being used with the chartplotter.

 

Connected to a GPSMAP 4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx, or 7xx series
  1. From the Home page, select Radar

  2. Select Radar Setup

  3. Select Antenna Size

  4. Select the appropriate size of the array, arm, or antenna (4 ft or 6 ft)

The radar is now configured to the type of array that is being used with the chartplotter.


Connected to a GPSMAP 3xxx series
  1. Press the Page button several times until the Radar page appears

  2. Press the Setup soft key to open the setup page

  3. Using the rocker pad, select the Advanced tab

  4. Select Antenna Size and press the Enter button

  5. Select the correct antenna size, 4 ft or 6 ft,

  6. Press the Enter button

The radar is now configured to the type of array that is being used with the chartplotter.
