Using Travelapse on a Garmin Dash Cam

The Travelapse feature captures still frames from your recorded video.  It arranges them into a shortened fast-motion video of the places you traveled.

When enabled, the Dash Cam will indicate Travelapse is recording with a small icon on the top line in the status bar.

The rate of capture is based on how fast you drive at any given point during the recording.

No audio will be recorded when the dash cam is recording Travelapse.

NOTE: Travelapse is not available on the Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 3, Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 2, Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini, or Garmin Dash Cam™  Tandem driving recorders.

To Enable Travelapse:

  1. Press the Down button until Travelapse is displayed
    • On the Garmin Dash Cam™ X310 swipe the screen to open the menu, then select Travelapse.
  2. Press the Save/Enter button
  3. Press the button next to Start

The Garmin Dash Cam™ will begin recording Travelapse footage indefinitely until it is disabled.

This feature can also be enabled through the Voice Control on compatible dash cams. For additional info on Voice Control see the owner's manual for the camera.

To disable this feature, repeat the steps above and select Stop.

This feature can also be disabled through the Voice Control on compatible dash cams. For additional info on Voice Control see the owner's manual for the camera.

Is Travelapse Video Saved in Garmin Vault?

No. Although Travelapse videos are shown in the saved video list when Review Video is chosen in the Garmin Drive™ app, they are not automatically uploaded to Vault.

If an upload to Vault is desired, manually export the Travelapse video to your smartphone within the Garmin Drive app, and it will be uploaded to Vault as well.

  • Settings > Vault Access> Vault App Uploads > Exported Clips must be toggled on, which is the default setting.

See Garmin Drive App Settings / Variables when Uploading Videos to the Vault.
