Avoiding a Call Sign Mismatch (CSMM)
Ensure that your ADS-B Flight Identification (FLT ID) Matches the Aircraft Identification on your Flight Plan:
If you file your flight plan using “DCM0000”, you need to enter “DCM0000” as your ADS-B out FLT ID. FltPlan®.com Flight planning services navlogs show the aircraft identification. We recommend downloading and saving your navlog for reference and adding an ADS-B FLT ID verification and entry step to your pre-flight checklist.
Ensure that you Enter the FLT ID Exactly.
A typographical error or incomplete entry will land you on the CSMM list. Be sure that you are entering the FLT ID exactly as filed. We’ve seen “0” entered as “O,” and many examples of dropped letters and numbers, such as “DC0000.” Leaving the “M” out of “DCM” as your ADS-B FLT ID will flag your flight as a mismatch.
Check the Aircraft Data in your FltPlan.com Account.
Some operators have ICAO call sign/telephony identifiers entered in place of the aircraft registration in their FltPlan.com account. To avoid a mismatch, you must enter the aircraft registration, not a call sign. To check your aircraft data on FltPlan.com, go to
- Main Menu
- Settings
- Edit Aircraft List
If your ADS-B out data link doesn’t allow for manual flight ID entry, you need to file with your aircraft registration. If you don’t know what flight ID is programmed into your ADS-B out data link, you can perform a Public ADS-B Performance Report Request (PAPR) test to verify your flight ID.
