Name is Different on Garmin Explore App Than the Garmin Explore Website
Garmin was made aware of name changes on the Garmin Explore™ website not reflecting the same name on the associated Garmin Explore app.
NOTE: This difference can only be seen within your Garmin Explore app. Your inReach® device and account functionality are not impacted by this, and your message signature should not reflect the incorrect name either.
Our Engineering team has recently resolved this for changes made to the first and/or last name as of October 25th, going forward. They are still working through to a resolution for existing mismatches, which will take some time to implement. We appreciate your patience and understanding while this work is being done.
In the meantime, the steps below to change your name on Garmin.com and the Garmin Connect™ website should resolve this. Garmin uses the same account login information across multiple websites, apps, and services. Due to this connectivity between platforms, changes made to the name name on Garmin.com and the Garmin Connect website will also be reflected in the Garmin Explore app and the Garmin Explore website.
Changing Name on Garmin.com
Visit Garmin.com.
Click
in the top right corner of the page.
Select Account.
Enter login credentials and select Sign In.
It should show your name as what currently appears in the Garmin Explore app.
Select EDIT next to Account Details.
Change the name to what you prefer and select SAVE.
Changing Name in Garmin Connect App
- Visit https://connect.garmin.com/signin
Enter the same login credentials you use for the Garmin Explore app, then select Sign In.
- Select Profile & Account in the top right corner:
Select Account Settings.
Select Public Profile.
Change the name to what you prefer, then scroll down and select Save at the bottom of the page.
Sign in if prompted.
Select Edit.
Type your new email address in the Email field.
Select Save (at the bottom of the page).
Signing Out and Back In to the Garmin Explore App
Open the Garmin Explore app on your mobile device.
Select the profile icon in the top left.
Select Sign Out in the top right.
Select Sign Out again when prompted.
This should return you to the home page.
It may now display the preferred name you changed to. If so, select Continue. If not, select Sign In.
Follow the prompts to sign back in.
It should now display your preferred name in the Garmin Explore app.
