Viewing Map Data using the Garmin Dash Cam Player
Note: New downloads of Garmin's Dash Cam Player software have been discontinued. This means that Garmin no longer offers a desktop application that supports the management of your device's video files; however, many common third-party programs exist which can fulfill this purpose. Some are usually built into the computer (such as Windows Media Player and QuickTime) and others (such as VLC Media Player) can be found online.
You can use the Garmin Dash Cam Player to view map information that is embedded in the videos and pictures taken with Garmin Dash Cam devices.
To view the map data from a video or picture in the Garmin Dash Cam Player:
- Select the desired video or picture
- Click View
- Click Show Map/Data
Map and data information boxes will appear on the right side of the video in the Garmin Dash Cam Player program.
Information available on the map:
- Start and end time of the recording
- Date of recording
- Map of the route travelled
- Coordinates of the device's location
- Speed travelled
- Direction of travel
You can also change the provider of the maps that are viewed in the Garmin Dash Cam Player.
To change the map provider:
- Click Settings
- Click or hover over Map
- Select the desired map provider
- BaiduMap
- The BaiduMap provider is only available in China and Taiwan.

The map on the right side of the program will now display the maps from the selected map provider.
