How to Reset an Approach S3, S4, S5, or S6

There are two resets that can be performed if you are having issues with an Approach® S3, S4, S5, or S6 golf watch not functioning as expected. A forced restart is suggested when the Approach is unresponsive or will not power on or off. A master reset is suggested for problems with satellite reception, general functionality issues, or restoring factory default settings, including language options (all user information other than saved scorecards will be erased with a master reset).

Forced Restart Steps

  1. Press and hold the Light/Power button.

  2. Wait up to 30 seconds until device powers on/off.

  3. Release the Light/Power button.

The Approach watch will now function properly. If the device is still unresponsive, connect the watch to the computer and then follow the above steps again.


Master Reset Steps

  1. Power off device.

  2. Press and hold the Score button.

  3. Press the Power button.

  4. Release all buttons when the screen displays "Clear user data?".

  5. Select Yes.

If done properly, the initial setup screen will appear shortly.

The device should now be reset to default factory settings, and should function as expected. Leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for up to 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
