Playing Video Files in Garmin Dash Cam Player
Note: New downloads of Garmin's Dash Cam Player software have been discontinued. This means that Garmin no longer offers a desktop application that supports the management of your device's video files; however, many common third-party programs exist which can fulfill this purpose. Some are usually built into the computer (such as Windows Media Player and QuickTime) and others (such as VLC Media Player) can be found online.
Garmin Dash Cam Player plays video files captured by Garmin Dash Cam devices. Video files are stored on the microSD card inserted in the device. These files can be played back from the microSD card or be copied to another location on the computer.
To open video files by importing them into Dash Cam Player:
- Connect the device to a USB port
- Click OK or Yes on the device to enter USB Mass Storage mode
- Open the Garmin Dash Cam Player application
- Click Yes if prompted to import video files
- Double-click a video in the left pane
Dash Cam Player will play the selected video file. Video files that are imported can also be trimmed. Videos recorded by the Dash Cam 10 and 20 do not support Trim.
For more information about the trim feature, see Trim Videos in Garmin Dash Cam Player.
To open video files that are saved on the computer:
- Click File
- Click Open File
- Browse to the location of the video file and select it
- Click Open
Dash Cam Player will play the selected video file. However, videos opened this way cannot be edited.
