Steps to Manually Upload Activity Data From Your Outdoor Handheld to Your Garmin Connect Account

Activities can be imported into your Garmin Connect™ account from Garmin products that are recognized as mass storage devices directly from your computer. For a list of mass storage devices, see Related.

Locating Activity Files on a Garmin Mass Storage Device

To locate the activity files on a Garmin mass storage device, select your computer's operating system below

Windows

  1. Plug the device into a computer.

  2. Click Windows key + E.

  3. Click This PC (Windows 10 and 11 only).

  4. Double-click the Garmin device drive:

  5. If listed, double-click Internal Storage.

  6. Double-click the Garmin folder.

  7. Double-click the Activities folder.

Mac

NOTE: The eTrex® SE, eTrex® Solar, Foretrex® 801, Foretrex® 901, GPSMAP® 67, GPSMAP® 67i, Montana® 710, Montana® 710i, and Montana® 760i outdoor devices use MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode, which prevents them from appearing as a separate drive on Mac computers. For these devices, a Windows computer must be used.

  1. Plug the device into the computer.

  2. Open Finder.

  3. Click Go in the menu bar.

  4. Click Computer.

  5. Double-click the Garmin device drive.

  6. Double-click the Garmin folder.

  7. Double-click the Activities folder.

Manually Uploading Activities to Garmin Connect

NOTE: Garmin Connect supports .FIT, .GPX, and .TCX files. For a GPX file to successfully upload to Garmin Connect, the file must include time information. If you are exporting activities from Strava with the intent of importing them to Garmin Connect, you will need to export the activities as single activities rather than a bulk export (see Strava Support - Exporting your Data and Bulk Export).

  1. Connect the device to a computer using a USB cable if that is where the file is saved.

  2. Sign into Garmin Connect.

  3. Select Cloud With an Arrow in it in top right corner of page.

  4. Select Import Data.

  5. Select Browse.

  6. Locate and select the activity file.

  7. Select Import Data.

Once the activities are uploaded, they can be viewed in Garmin Connect account.
