Reactor 40 Kicker Autopilot Cable Routing

Reactor 40 Kicker Autopilot cables must be properly installed per the Reactor 40 Installation manuals, or the cables can be damaged.

See Reactor 40 Kicker Manuals for installation instructions.

Allow for enough slack in the Reactor 40 Kicker cables so that it does not excessively bend, pull, chafe, strain, or twist the cables when the outboard motor turns to either port or starboard.

Throttle Actuator and Steering Actuator Cable

The Throttle Actuator cable is secured with zip ties. When the motor moves to the Port or Starboard, the cable is exceptionally bent at the zip tie, this type of bend will eventually result in the cable failing. Using zip ties to secure the Steering Actuator cable with zip ties to the Outboard Motor cables will eventually result in the cable failing due to multiple points not being allowed to flex or bend.

Incorrect use of Zip Ties:

Zip-tying the Kicker cables to multiple harnesses or hoses that move with the outboard motor will cause the Steering Actuator, NMEA 2000 cables, and Throttle Actuator cables to fail prematurely. The failure results from constant bending and twisting of the internal wiring to short, open, or chafing through the external cable sheathing. Zip ties installed too tight will crush the inner wires. Do not zip-tie the Reactor 40 Kicker cables to other cables, hoses, or objects that move, twist, rotate, or near hazardous fluids that could ignite.

Throttle Actuator - Drive Actuator Cable (RPM cable)

Install the RPM cable per the Reactor 40 Kicker Throttle Installation Manual. Wrapping the RPM cable around the Spark Plug wire is incorrect. Positioned excess wire away from all other cables, especially the spark plug wiring and additional electronic energy or signal sources.
