Setup and Sending Check-in/Preset Messages From the Alpha 200i
When sending a message with the Alpha® 200i, you can choose to send a Check-In Messages (formerly known as Preset Messages). Check-In/Preset messages are messages that you create at explore.garmin.com and have predefined text and recipients. While sending a Check-in/Preset message will not count against your inReach® service plan, replies will. Please see the video below for detailed guidance on setting up your Check-In/Preset messages.
NOTE: Check-in messages have replaced preset messages as of September 27th, 2022. inReach accounts set up prior to this date will still have preset messages available, but any new accounts created after this date will use check-in messages.
Sending a Check-in/Preset Message with the Alpha 200i
If you have recently made changes to your check-in/preset messages, it is import to sync your Alpha 200i to ensure it has your latest message options.
- From the Main Menu, select InReach
- Select Messages
- Select Send Preset
- Select which Check-In/Preset message you wish to send
After you select the message you wish to send, the inReach will send the message. Make sure you have a clear view of the sky to ensure the message is sent.
