Need of a Lightning Arrestor When Using a gWind and GND 10

Unlike the GWS 10, the gWind sensor has built-in lightning protection and does not require an external lightning arrestor. The GND 10 and NMEA 2000 network are protected by galvanic isolation, or a lack of electrical conductance.

NOTE: the older GWS 10 units do require a lightning arrestor, the original lightning arrestor that came in the box is no longer available.  If, a new lightning arrestor is necessary please use a NMEA 2000 lightning arrestor. Garmin does not have a specific NMEA 2000 Lightning arrestor a third party NMEA 2000 lightning arrestor will be needed.
